in pursuit of happiness

is happiness a matter of what one focuses on?

seems like pure/good religion should edify humanity.  help us, as a society reach the highest potential ... those grand heights of humanity that prophets and seers and kings on mountain tops see.  why would they all see such great heights if we couldn't one day reach them?

i believe that the purpose of life is to have joy.  joy is deep. much deeper than temporary happiness. fear and joy, just like fear and faith, can't exist in the same place.  joy encompasses peace, hope, ease, goodness, etc.

i believe that we can make the world better as we speak our truths.

i feel like i got shut-up somewhere along the road.  i got worried about the consequences of my words to the point that i lost myself.  this runs through my mind frequently:
Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (Ephesians 4:29)
i feel like this amazing teacher is doing just that.  Ms Ruebenstein is a hero.  THanQ for standing up and sharing your truth!!

please watch and share.  (fair warning -- it makes me cry.  when she talks about her silence, i could relate.  she also talks about policy issues i remember my mom talking about in the '80s.  so sad to realize things have only gotten worse, not better as i'd deceived myself to believe.)

that video lead me down a bit of a happiness wormhole.  this was the treasure i discovered:

If any one among you be strong in the Spirit, take with you one who is weak, that s/he may be edified in all meekness, that s/he may become strong  (Joseph Smith)
