thai xing

a few months ago, dianna and i were walking on florida ave to timor bodega and passed this random sign that said thai x-ing there were mardi gras beads hung up, a random little gate. there was a little menu posted outside and we decided we had to go back and check it out.

it has been on my list of things to do for a long time. so awhile back, me and my buddy matt decided to check it off my list.

we found the most delicious thai food! super fresh and super tasty.

you walk down stairs into a basement. it feels like you are in someone's house who has invited you over for dinner. but they are a real clutter-bug and so you kinda have to make your way to find a place to sit. it is an ecclectic assortment of stuff: personal photographs, maps, random inspiring saying posters, tons of books, clocks, kick-knacks. it is really such an odd space, but for some weird reason also welcoming.

i love this place. it just feels like you are "in the neighborhood" when you are there. the wait is REALLY long, but it is because they are making everything as you order. take-out is probably the best way to go. tho, if you don't want to worry about clean-up and excess waste, sitting there was really fun!

seriously, if you are in dc, you should check it out.

because 10 out of 10 has to be reserved for absolute perfection, i am giving it a 9. all of the quirky and awesomeness of it really made me love the place, but for some reason i feel obligated to keep 10s at a certain level, ya know.

anyway, check it out. when you do, let me know what you think.
