neighborhoods of dc

i was looking something up and found this map and thought it was really neat. definately worth sharing. it is a map of the neighborhoods of dc. i have always wondered where some of these neighborhoods ended and others began. you can click on it (or the link below) it will pull up another window and you can click on that photos and zoom in so you can read it better. it is seriously cool.

i have photos from our work on the house this weekend. i will get them up in the next couple of days...

i am in a delimma about how much money i spend to make it really energy efficient. i feel like this is the only time i can do some things (install central a/c and put in radiant floors) the solar stuff can wait until the incentives are more helpful. what if my kitchen has to suffer? i am open to advice.

also, i am thinking of having an open house and registering for gifts. is that tacky? someone recommended it to me and i think it sounds fun. i love getting gifts, and heaven knows i could use some stuff, but it could be kinda tacky. is it?

anyway the cool map...

i vote not tacky. but if you're uncomfortable with the idea, you could throw the party when we're in town and present it as a kooyman reunion party and then put "in lieu of gifts, the kooymans have requested donations to the konkel eco-friendly home restoration project"

All the babie showers in the Ward.. go for it.
I wish I could have a 'flowers for my back yard' shower.
