NoMa dc's newest neighborhood

so i just found out that i am living right on the edge of NOMA...north of massachusetts ave. it is a huge development/revitalization plan for dc. npr just announced that they are moving their offices there. i am so excited! one of the things that made leaving the hill hard was leaving my walkability to marvelous market and eastern market. this site explains some of what is planned. here is a video about it. they are installing an 8 mile bike trail from my neighborhood to silver spring, md.

By the time NPR opens its new headquarters, NoMa will be well on the way to realizing the vision of a 24/7 mixed-use, pedestrian-friendly neighborhood with an extensive array of shops, restaurants, and entertainment choices. NoMa offers a wide range of transportation options including the New York Avenue Metro station, Amtrak and Metro service at Union Station, and the Metropolitan Branch Trail.

stuff that isn't covered on that site include the gateway market and residences which will include a "unique skylit international market" and more shopping space. word on the street is that a new whole foods is going in just outside my neighborhood and there will be tons of other stuff too. i am hoping to get MoM's organic market over there somehow. but how cool to have my yard and garden but still be able to walk to a movie theater or shopping?

and already existing near my house the florida avenue market and the D.C. Farmers Market with massibve variety of wholesale and retail foods from local producers and all over the world.

so basically, i think i bought in a really great revitalizing area. and i think that all my friends who are thinking of buy: sarah and tomicah; mike and elaine; brigham and jennie; scott and marlo; etc need to really think about moving to my neighborhood!
